engine bogging when getting on it??????

Default engine bogging when getting on it??????

A couple of times when I was running at around 55mph Iwent to punch it and the car jumped and then got stuck in this bogging thing.What's this all about? I drive in overdrive position w/ active handling all the time.My car is an automatic.

That would be the Traction Control kicking in. When it detects slippage of the rear tires under accelleration it cuts the fuel supply to the engine.

It could be you're hitting the rev limiter which cuts fuel to the engine to prevent over-revving.

at 55mph in an A4 I doubt it is the rev limiter.

You're probably right. I forgot about the lack of control of the car in an A4. I'm used to thinking how manuals react.

So there's nothing wrong with the car .The computer is just kind of taking over for safety?

My initial reaction is yes. You can test this out by putting the car in Competition Mode. Hold down the Active Handling button for 5-6 seconds. A message will come up on the DIC stating you are now in Competition Mode. This means that Active Handling is still on but that Traction Control has been turned off. Now see if the car behaves in the same manner.

Beware though. As others have mentioned through out this forum, taking off Traction Control is Ok, but taking off Active Handling is done at your own risk.

If you have a 2001 A4 there is a programming update to correct this.There is also a TSB.Head to the dealer

2001 Chevrolet Corvette With 5.7L Engine (VIN G - RPO LS1)

Condition
Some customers may comment that the engine lacks power following a wide open throttle downshift, either 3-2 or 4-2, followed by a wide open throttle 2-3 upshift.

Correction
A new service calibration is available for this condition. This calibration is available from Techline starting September 2001, on the TIS 2000 version TIS 10/2001 data update or later. Reprogram the PCM with the new calibration.
