Is there much of a difference between Mag Red and the Anniversary Red? And can those of you w/ the Anniversary Special Editions convertibles please post some pics, all I can find is GM's pics from a couple of years ago. Next spring is go time for me to finally be able to afford a Vette and I love the 50th's colors, in and out, so it's my number one choice if I can find one. I already have seen ads for the "ultra rare Special Edition" although I read that almost 1 in 3 Vettes for '03 were the SEs. Thanks.

Anniversary Red was a much darker color - almost a maroon. Mag Red II is a much brighter color. Both colors are absolutely stunning when polished to perfection (but what Vette isn't polished to perfection? ) and under bright sunlight.
There is no way that you would mistake one for the other side by side. I believe that Anniversary Red was the most popular color in '03.
The anniversary red edition is an option.that was offored on 2003 Vettes.Magnetic red looks compleatly different.. That anniversay edition has a shale interior and was available on the coupe or convertiable only. LT
I just sold a 50th Vert and bought an 04 Mag Red /oak/oak vert......I really never liked the 50th anni color very well.....looked great when waxed and clean, but the slightest bit of road use(mine was a winter rat) and they look brown.....the color has a muddy look to it.....I am much happier with the mag red color.....they both get lots of comments from onlookers.....if I remember right, there are approx 7500 anni verts out there....quite a few cars....I used to drive mine and meet several just like it EVERY DAY.....I bet you would prefer the mag red....it is a little brighter, more sparkle to the paint.....looks alot like the "inferno red" chrysler has used for several years......beautiful color.....but, you can't go wrong with either....they are both beautiful cars.....
Can you still get the shale interior, or was that a one time color as well? I like the lighter interior as I have a black on black 'vert now and it kills me in the sun. Thanks.
Shale interior is available on the Commemerative Edition 2004. That is the Lemans Blue cars. The 50th Anniversary Editions had a dark tinted clearcoat that requires a lot of light to make the red color beneath it to pop out. The color is completely different in bright sunlight and cloudy conditions. There were 11,632 50th AE's built, approx 1/3 of all 2003 production.
Color is always a personal thing. I love the mag red color. I also love the deep candy-apple effect of the 50th in sunlight.
Goto Chevy.com and look over the 2004 color options. Like Ted said before, come visit us on the 50th Registry www.50thregistry.com for more info on the 50th.

I agree with the posts stating that the Mag Red is lighter, however the AE Red sparkles more in the sun and is deeper, almost to the point of a Candy Apple finish.
