I'm a Danish guy moving to Canada in August 2004, and I'm absolutely determined to buy a Vette.
Can any of you guys give me a link to some kind of "buying a Corvette for dummies guide" if that exists? You know - what you should check on the car, how to kick the tires and such...
Probably the best thing you could do is frequent this place. There's so much to re-search here it's incredible. And any other questions should be easily answered. One thing you can do when about to buy is get a report from the dealer on the service history on the car. If they don't want to give it to you find another dealer, or post the VIN # here and someone will help you out.

Thanks for helping out an amateur!

See if there is a local corvette specialty repair shop in your area. If you can find one, stop by to check it out! If you like what you see, ask if they have a "car buyer's inspection deal". Probably cost around $100. They'll bring it into their shop and have one of their mechanics look it over for you (a lot more than you can do on the lot or in someone's driveway). If you do this, be there when they do it and TALK TO THEM. These guys are usually corvette lovers and should enjoy talking to you.
As a side piece of advise: if the person (or dealer) that you are looking to make a purchase from will not allow you to do this: RUN AWAY. They are hiding something or afraid of what you may find.
