I'm sorry for all the questions...but I'm a relatively new owner and have been checking out and buying accessories for my car, and I just want to make sure I'm getting decent stuff. Thanks for all the help!
I'm checking out the rear exhaust dress up plates that go into the "void" between the tailpipes. Zip's has a $50 stainless steel plate that looks good and then a $190 billet plate. Can anyone tell me the difference here? Of course I don't want to go cheap on my car, but for $120 in price difference, I'm wondering if the quality actually is that much different in this case, because it doesn't look to be the case...thanks!
If your car is a daily driver or you think the base plate looks fine for what your going to do with the car, I would get the 50 dollar one and it is a nice looking plate. Friend of mine put one like it on his and is very happy with it. If your wanting the best looking and your going to show the car or not drive it in the rain, looking to keep the underside perfect I would spend the extra $$ and get the billet plate. Nothing wrong with the cheaper plate but I'm a weekend driver and planning on showing my car so I'm going to spend the extra bucks. I like the look of the billet myself but they are pricey

I just went with a cheap one. Heck, it's only an exhaust plate. I figure i could replace it 3 times for the price of the other one. Mid America Motorworks (old Mid America Direct) has the one I bought for $44.99. Here is a picture.
Since Commemorative Emblems aren't readily available on exhaust plates, I bought a polished aluminum plate from a guy on eBay. I didn't like the square $50 ones mentioned above. Wanted something that formed around the pipes. Then, I ordered a Commemorative emblem from forum sponsor Fichtner Chevrolet, and will have my own lightweight, custom exhaust plate installed in about a week. The plate was about $30, and regular Corvette hood/trunk emblems are in the $20 range.
I got mine from Exit 28 for $85 (in 2002). It's high-polished stainless and is larger than the square ones, surrounding the pipes to an extent, and has a C5 emblem. I don't know what sort of sticky they used but it has never moved in two years!

Not the best pic to show, but I hope you can see the difference. I have a 50th Ann. logo, Corvette and a border. I like the way it was different from all the plain plates out there. $169.00 on sale.
