From what I've seen as a general rule on the C5s, figure a 15% loss from the crank to the rear wheels. So, depending somewhat on the model year, this would compute out around 293.25 to 297.5 RWHP. Again, this is just a general rule for an estimate and each car will differ.

I've heard 15% for M6s and 18% for A4s. But these are estimates as I've never really seen anything produced to document it from GM.

This might yield a closer estimate on the A4. Had the M6 in mind when I wrote what I did above.

I too have heard the 18-20% loss for an auto. So figure somewhere between 280 and 287.

Also keep in mind when you calculate this that the FWHP changed in 01 from 345 to 350.

Mine is an 00 3.15 A4 and after a few mods and a trip to Norris Motorsports I've got 317 RWHP on the dyno or roughly a 40RWHP gain. So it's fairly easy to increase the stock numbers with simple add-ons.
