Anyway, I'm considering either getting the shift **** adapter so I have a better selection of shift *****, or just getting the black ball **** w/ Corvette logo that already has the adapter built into it (found on GM Performance Parts and WCC).
I was wondering if any of you had the adapter kit installed and could snap a pic of it and post or email it to me. I'd like to see just how tall the shifter is with the adapter installed, and how it all looks as an assembly.
If you swap out stock for a flame-ball or any ball ****...(oye)
it will almost be the same height as the stock shifter. Of course
the beauty of the adapter kit, is once installed you can then
swap out to a variety of shift ***** including ones that
are sold as 'manuals' only.
I had the billet aluminum with C5 logo for a few years, got tired
of that and bought a Momo that is listed as manual shifter, but
once the adapter kit is on, you can put almost anything on there.
So it sounds like the adapter is the way to go, just from a flexibility standpoint. Thanks!
Would still be nice to see some pics from folks who are using the adapter. WCC has a pic of the auto-**** installed and I figure it must look something similar to that.
I've used the adapter you mention and didn't really like it. It actually adds about 1" to the height of your **** (should I have said that????? ). I didn't like the adapter because it just didn't "feel" right to me.
BTW - Still have the adapter and all parts if you want to get one cheaper than from a vendor and try it out. email me if interested.
I have the Chameleon ****. The top ring screws off and they can be purchased seperately. The rings are available in 9 different colors. Got it through Ecklers.

No that is the kind of input I am looking for. If I could just see a pic of how a **** looks using the adapter I could get a better idea. But 1" extra sounds like a lot of height.
That Chameleon **** is another one I have been considering. Is the adapter required to use that one? Or is the adapter built into it? I assume that the shift button is the inner piece that contains the logo? Or does the entire **** push down? It was tough to tell how these work from the WCC catalog. Both the manual and auto ***** look the same.

The adapter is built into the base of the **** for the A4. The trim rings screw onto the base. There is no push button, the entire **** is pushed down. I have had mine installed for almost 2 years and it works flawlessly. It does sit up a bit higher than stock but it seems to be the perfect height to me.
The one thing that sucks about the install is that you have to remove the console trim to make the shift boot work. It's not hard but time consuming. The result is worth it though, IMHO.
I switch back and forth between a bright blue trim ring which matches my Electron Blue paint pretty well and the satin gray which matches my 2 tone black and gray interior. Its a pretty trick **** and someone is always asking me where I got it.
