Got my car dyno'd for the first time over the weekend. Here's something interesting. Stand about 20 feet or so behind the car while it's getting dyno'd. First thing is that you can actually feel the exhaust blowing in your face from this distance.! Secondly, yell as loud as you can while you're back there and you can barely hear your own voice. The guy said he got the car up to 145mph on the dyno. I'm never outside and behind the car when it's high up in the rpm range so this is the first time I got to hear the exhuast from this perspective. This thing is louuuuuuuuuuuuuud! You just gotta love it. Oh by the way my best numbers were 358HP and 353lb-ft torque.

First time is a bit scary....I remember mine, I was afraid to drive the car, most places wont let you drive the car, this place wanted me to. I found a volunteer, I whimped out. With a vararam intake and tuning, I was up to 373 HP. Put Headers on this weekend, I'll have to take another trip to the shop for new numbers, maybe I'll drive this time....

Now you have your baseline numbers, time to start modding!

First 358 RWHP is on the upper end of a stock LS6. Many LS6’ come in between 345 and 360 RWHP.

Second I hope you didn't stand directly behind the car as a stone lodged in a tire tread could have become a missile and you could have been seriously injured. I've dyno'd at 3 different facilities over the years and none of them would allow anyone to stand directly behind the car. I hope you meant you were standing off to the side.

Glad you got a good solid baseline to start from, but you'll need to use the same dyno to ensure consistency when measuring HP gains from future mods.

I have never been to a dyno where the owner didn't drive the car.

Who knows you're car best? If it makes a strange noise you are the soleperson who knows and can shut it down quicker than anyone else.

If you can't "drive" on the dyno you shouldn't be driving the Z on the road.

I'm going back Wednesday night...wanna drive? There is something about a couple of nylon straps holding back all that power that bothers me.

Every dyno will give diff. results! Go to your local dragstrip, that is the best dyno around.
