Default Vertical door kit

Has anyone installed a vertical door kit on their C5? I'm interested in installing on a 2002 Z06....If so, are you happy with the the way it works? Any problems?

Thanks,

Dan

Try using the search function. This has been talked about many times before. But mostly the kits are overpriced and not very sturdy.

On sale for $2595.00? They're just door hinges for god's sake!

But they're Corvette door hinges. That automatically moves the decimal point one place to the right.

Also, these vertical doors only go up. If they had a set that would either go up or open normally that would be a cool feature, but only going up is kind of inconvenient.

Having the hinges do both (up and sideways), would be pointless. With the small parking spaces these days if all car doors went either up or were sliding like in vans, there would be no more door dings. Of course if you had an accident where the car was upside down then I guess you wouldn't be able to get out.

I'm also thinking about it and saw an ad in this months Vette Magizine...."Verticle Door's, Inc"...its a direct bolt on system and they list a website VerticalDoors.com I have not seen the site nor do I know how much they charge. In the Magizine ad, they have a few photos of C5's with them installed...Looks very cool...not sure what it would do to the re-sale value of the car though.....

I agree they look cool. I've always liked Lambo style doors. But, in my mind I can't justify the cost. For that price I could get two complete sets of tires.

from what I have seen the doors must first be opened out like normal; then the doors swings up. I am not a big fan of this mod.

Default Vertical door kit

I just finished the install on my 02' C5, and they are very sturdy. they do open out first, then up. My wife has short arms and has trouble reaching the upward position, so she can still enter like normal.
install was simple. Ordered form West coast corvettes $2200.

Steven, Did you have to do any cutting to get the doors installed? West coast corvettes says you need to cut, but verticaldoors.com says no cutting is required?
