My neighbors car has two,, one is called W.I.F.E, usually located in the passengers seat, I call it M.I.L.F, usually located in the yard wearing shorts....
There is a PCM and a BCM Power Control Module and Body Control Module. As far as knowing when they are bad comes down to what's going on with your car and have they been damaged. The BCM is under the passenger's feet. There's a small cover under the floor mat. If this one get wet it can cause all sorts of problems. This happens when the A/C drain backs up and water enters the passenger's side footwell. Hope this helps.

That's what's great about this forum. It provides both educational and entertainment value.
As for what type of module, it is the Body Control Module and it was apparently accidentally damaged at the dealer. I thought they were supposed to fix things, not break them. Anyway, it should be fixed but what should I look out for in the event they didn't fix it right?
