Quick question: I was looking for blackouts for my vette, the screw in type. Which look darker, smoke or carbon fiber?

I'm guessing the smoke shade is the way I'll go. I just didn't want the "smoke" to mean gray instead of the black look I want. I also haven't seen many pics of vettes with blackouts. Please post if you have one...

Just a guess, but I would say the smoke ones are darker.

Front or rear?

I have smoked fronts on a Millenium Yellow coupe. I'll take a pix tomorrow if you want.

Smoked are darker BTW. I had CF rears on my Jeep -- they have a "basket weave" effect and let some of the red show through.

I first bought CF turn signal covers for my MY car. They let to much light through, almost transparent. I sent them back for smoked ones. The smoked are darker.

Be careful. I have them on my ride but they are against the law in Texas.

Both would be greatly appreciated

Here is a pic of my screw-in type with the "smoke" lenses. i love these and agree, they are a lot darker than the CF ones.

Take care.

I did not know that, how do you find out if it's legal or not? Do you have to call the DMV? I'm already running no front license plate, might as well do this too, although it may push me over the edge...

That might just do it. I did put my front LP on this purcahse of my 04. Anyway the section in the Texas Transportation Code is 547.303 listed as color requirements: a lighting device or reflector mounted on the rear of a vehicle must reflect red.
