Since this is my first time removing the plugs I don't want to damage the wires or boots!! And I am having a hard time removing the boots. I thought I'd start on the hardest one first and get it over with. Well I've disconnected the power steering vacuum line to get it out of the way.
But then the fuel line is in the way. I took the retainer clips off but the fuel line doesn't want to come off. It appears that there is a spider clip that is also holding it in. Should I leave the line attached and work around it?
Then to get the boots off. The first time is always the worst. They seem to be stuck on the plugs. Should I turn the rubber boot till they break loose or just pull? I don't want to damage the wires doing this. Has someone got a trick to get these off without doing in the wires. Plus that one by the drivers side I can hardly get my hand in there let alone releasing the boot.
Help me out guys!!! This is my baby and I really want this to go smoothly.
I just changed my plugs today for the first time and they were hard to pull out for me to. First I removed the coil brackets and coils to free up some space. Then I unbolted the A.I.R. tube to get my hand some space. I decided to get some long needle nose plyers and pull from the bottom of the plug boot after trying to remove the plug wires with my fingers. This method worked much better and they pulled out easily. For that drivers side plug you talked about...pull the brake booster hose out and move it out of the way. The original plugs were far from the correct gap. Hope this helps.
just did them all last week. we did not have to move or remove anything just pull em off swap em and putr em back on. I did wires too though it was easy. After working on my old C4 this was CAKE
