Default Picked up My First C5 Today

Its official! I am now a Corvette owner Bought it today. 1998 Corvette Coupe. Torch Red, 14K miles Every option available on an automatic except body side moldings and magnesium wheels. It has F45 suspension. I am in love with this car!!!!

The only problem I see is the car came from a place where a front liscense plate is required, and they are not required here in Alabama. The owner apparently decided to keep the factory plate, so does anybody know where I can buy a Torch Red front liscence plate? Also, any tips to make it easier to remove the targa top when Im by myself?

Welcome to the Forum. You have a great car. Someone on the forum may be able to help you out on the front cover. Check or start a thread in the parts section. If not, check the Vendors listed here. One of them will have it (you'll probably have to get it painted). The top will get easier to remove after you do it a few times. You'll figure out the right places to handle for removal & installation.

Don't forget to wave .....

We all know how you feel. I waited & worked hard for a long time before I was able to buy my first one. You will never forget that feeling because it stays with you forever.

Congratulations! Welcome to the forum!!!

They are incredible cars, there's nothing else like them.

Someone here will have a license cover for you on the parts forum. Just post a WTB for it. If you don't get any bites, search for KARSHOP here on the forum. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/member.php?userid=14501 Gene will have one for sure.

Remember to

Incredible weather here in AR this week. I'll send some of it your way. If you're down there anytime soon, tell the folks at Green Top and Dreamland hello! I miss that BBQ!

Congrats and welcome.

I found following the example in the video that came with my car to be the easiest way to remove/replace the top.

Well, actually the EASIEST way to remove the top is to leave it unlatched and then drive off. You then join the Flying Roof Club!

Congrats on the new car!

I keep a pair of cotton gloves in the car so I can remove the top on those hot days when it has been sitting outside for a long time. Keeps my fingers from being burnt off and also keeps the finger prints off the top. Otherwise you get really use to removing it.

Good luck with it
