Hey guys got a question? I have tried seaching but came up with nothing but here goes. How hard is it and what do I need to do to change the backup light switch? I am having the problem with no backup lights and I need to get my car inspected ASAP! I checked the bulbs and also the fuses and dont think the problem is with them. Thanks in advance for your help!!
I've been fortunate and haven't needed to replace mine. I might be wrong but it is my understanding that the switch is on the passenger side of the tranny somewhere. I haven't had to look for it yet.
Hopefully someone who knows for sure will chime in
Don't mean to sound like a smart azz but make sure you check your light bulbs. Old car had one out for a long time (I'm Guessing) and never noticed it. When the second one quit I thought something was wrong with the wiring. Spent a whole day chasing it down to inevitably find the two bad bulbs Felt like a huge idiot.
Just a few pointers. If the lights come on when you hit the FOB (approach lights), the bulbs are fine. Also that circuit is separate from the backup lamp circuit, i.e. different fuse.
If you replace the back lamp switch as per the above (which is a very common problem) make sure you verify the fuse for that circuit. I can't remember the fuse # but it's in the passenger footwell. Usually when the b/up switch goes, it shorts the circuit and blows the fuse.
