power antenna ?
Was thinking of adding a power antenna to the z.
Question for those who added one. Is it possible to paint the stainless mast. My z is black and would like to paint the mast black but don’t know how it would hold up going up and down. Has anyone painted there’s?

I never tried to paint a power antenna mast, however, given that the mast retracts in sections, standard paint would likely get scaped off as the antenna extends up or retracts down through adjacent sections. Paint also will not likely adhere well to chromed mast. I suspect the way to go with that concept would have to be some kind of plating process which would be a bit costly. I went with a black 14" shorty "Cellular" style fixed mast for about $6 from Pep boys which looks pretty cool and works fairly well.

I have not done it, however I will bet that not only will you peal the paint off you will jam up the mast. The only thing that might work is to take one apart and have the metal anodized balck. That should not add any noticeble mass to the mast and it will not peal, even powder coat would be too thick.

I bought mean green's power antenna off his totaled vert. To be honest I never actually wired it to go up and down, but the coax cable is in. It gets ****ty reception in the country b/c the antenna doesn't go up, but it looks much better and makes my car cover go on. I'm just too lazy to wire it up.
