Call your local Chevy dealer. They should have all of the information you need on this recall.

You can register your car at www.MyGMLink.com and it will tell you if your car is covered yet. The recall notice for my '01 MN6 just showed up there sometime in the past week. I have no idea how they are rolling it out as far as transmissions or years currently included. Here's the link for the actual recall letter if anyone wants to read it.

IMHO, if you already have the CLB installed you don't have anything to worry about. The only advantage to having the recall performed (on an A4) would be the ability to remove the CLB and sell it for a few bucks. Personally, I'd rather avoid the trip to the dealer and keep the CLB. BTW, my car is an MN6, I have the CLB, and I will NOT be taking the car in for the recall

As stated in another thread. This recall DOES NOT solve the column lockup problem on MN6 cars. All it does is make sure the car is undrivable in case there IS a column lockup. This is a safety issue, some cars did not cut out when the column locked up as they should. You will still need the CLB to stop the lockup in the first place. (Or buy a late model A4, then you don't have to worry about CL ever... )

VIN number does not matter. If it's a C5 with MN6, or the older A4's it's recalled.

That is 100% TRUE, but GM is rolling out the recall slowly, so all of the affected cars are not currently in the database that the dealers check to see if a specific car is covered. If you call your dealer today, and your car isn't on their list, you don't get the recall. Before Monday it seemed that only 97's were able to get the recall done, but GM added more cars to the list with TSB 04006A on Monday, so now my '01 MN6 is covered. Check with your dealer of choice to be sure, but if you're not on the list just be patient and you will be eventually.
