I just called the dealer to find out if my 2000 vette had the column lock recall done and what do I find out??? There is a second recall that went into effect a couple of days ago (July 26th) This recall will replace the harness kit. I hope this will fix what the first one didn't!!

Good advise!
Don't be stubborn like I was.
Buy it and put it on fast.
If you cannot get someone else to do it.
It takes 40 minutes or less.
GM and the dealers will drive you nuts
if you let them.
As I understand it, the second recall replaces the first one. C-5 Tech posted detailed infomation on this here several days ago. See C-5 TECH's reply, 1st one down at this link: Latest Column Lock Recall Details From C5 TECH

If you have a 97-2000 A4 the column lock will be disabled...
If you have a 99-00 M6 the PCM will be reprogramend and some enhanced wiring will be installed to the BCM (if you were not involved in the 1st recall)...
If you have a 2001-04 M6 you only get the PCM reprogram...
If you have a 1997-98 M6,you are still out of luck because those will be recalled at a later date...

I wasnt aware of that... I registered my car on the mygmlink site and after giving them the VIN they said that there were "no outstanding recalls" on my car.
The last thing I had heard is that the '97-'98's were to be the first ones recalled.
Seems to be a LOT of misinformation about these recalls... thanks for clearing that up

1997 A4 was the 1st to be recalled.Notices sent out late April
Just picked up the Z fromthe dealer for the rocking seat and gas filler-neck fix. He said it showed the recall in place as well now. (Of course, they can't do it, because they won't have the programming kit from GM until the end of next week.
