An older gentleman down a few doors from my work bought a new vette about 3 months ago. I was going home the other dayand waved at him 3 times. The third time he really looked at me funny and then looked forward like he was intimidated. He just didnt catch the wave, even after a few vettes came by us both waving!
Rookie mistake. My first wave happened during the test drive and I almost twisted my neck looking back wondering if I knew that guy in the blue Vert going in the opposite direction. When it happened again, by another guy in a Vet, it didn't take long to put two and two together. Hopefully this guy will join the forum and wise up.
Last Sunday, my wife and I had stopped by a local "establishment" for a quick sandwich and a . We didn't have the vette, we had been to Home Depot with the Silverado. But, I did have on a "BORLA" hat. While we were there, an '03 triple black vert pulls in next to us. The driver (about 30) and an elderly man get out and go inside. I went in to pay our tab and the driver of the vert stops me and asks about the "BORLA" hat. "What do have Borla's on?" I told him my 02 vette. he said "cool". Then he asked me a question.... "When I'm in my vette...people keep waving at me. and I don't know who they are? What should I do??" I asked him if the "wavers" were other vettes...he said "yes" I told him just wave back!!! It's a vette thing.
There should be a dedicated section in the Owners Manual!
I still remember the first wave that I got in my vette!!!!!!!!!!
Had the car exactly one day, was at a stop waiting to turn onto a busy single lane road where traffic was moving slowly past. The fella was on his cell phone with his left hand, shifting with his right making the turn onto the side road that I was on... he takes his right hand off the stick and noticeably begins to steer through the corner with his knees as he gives me my first wave! It was so cool to me at the time I remember calling the wife to tell her what had happened. That was the day I learned about the wave, it's something you give not something that you get.

YES! lol how funny would that be, I can just picture a page in the manual describing it, with the stick figures and all.

That would actually be a good topic on the forum.. do you remember your first wave? I too remember mine. I had a 68 Mustang (in '93) and all the classic Mustang guys always waved. Anyway, the day I bought my Vette I had a concert to go to (Jewel.. The girlfriends choice of course) and of course I had to drive. Passed a Vette going to get on the highway and he waved. I was already giddy about my purchase, but that was the icing on the cake. I recognized it imediately and waved back, and it made my day. I have had a few other fast cars, but the thing I missed about the old stang was stopping at a gas station, and someone coming up to talk to you about the car.. And how they have/used to have one. I didnt buy the car becuase it was fast. I could have bought a pinto/pacer and made it faster cheaper. I bought mine becuase it was a corvette (and fast, and stunning to look at to boot). LONG LIVE THE WAVE!
