Default Big Problem after wire changes HELP

Changed plugs and wires last night with a friend it was easy as pie. I did not like how a couple of the wires were touching some of the emissions pipes so to speak that were hot to the touch. Over the weekend i stopped at Autozone and they sold me this flexible crap to wrap around the wires and said it would withstand the heat. Well took the car out tonight and it smeeled like burning matches. I goet home and pop the covers and sure enough two of them melted right onto the exhaust manifold and the rest were soft they were so warm.

Anyway now i am even more concerned about the wires. The aftermarket wires are all a little longer than the factory ones. None of them touch the exhaust manifold but 2 touch the skinny silver pipes that i think are part of the emissons junk.

Think i should leave well enough alone now that i took this garbage off they sold me or think i need something to protect the wires????

Please chime in with your ideas

You didn't say what brand brand wires you bought, but if they are good quality, such as Magnacor, Tayor, etc., you shoudn't need any sleeves. Just make sure they don't rest on the exhaust. If they do touch, then you should get a set of fire sleeves to slip over the wires. A set is about $45.

Nothing is restng on the exhaust at all. It is just resting on the silver pipes near and around the engine for two of the wires. I dont know exactly what those pipes are i think they are part of emissions stuff. Its not the exhaust manifold at all but it still gets pretty warm
