I just noticed that I have a bunch of little chips in my windshield. They are small (large grain of sand sized). Probably occured a couple of days ago when there was freeway maintenance and I drove through what I thought was a dust cloud or when I was behind a cement truck...I don't remember for sure.
Anyways...is there some liquid polish that will fill these in. Can they be polished out. I can live with it. I only see them if driving into the sunset or sunrize. I have the HUD so its probably an expensive windshield to replace.
Haven't heard of anything like what you want. I've had a number of rock chips repaired on both my C5s. The Corvette windshield is rather soft and prone to nicks and chips. Chip repair at a good shop costs me $35.
I agree they seem soft in comparison. I wonder if it's because of the heads up display. I got a bunch of pits and one starburst. Not bad enough to replace, but very anoying.

I asked a windshield repair guy, who told me those "little" chips weren't worth fixing. He said the cost wouldn't be cost effctive to fix something that would return in six months. I have a light tint on my windshield and mine show more so, but after talking to this guy, I just decided to live with 'em. Just my .02
Bet if you looked at other cars they have small nicks in them as well. Something you just can't avoid. We seem to notice road rash more on our Vettes than any other cars we drive.
i'd say live with it. nothing will fill them in, if anything they will highlight them more. polishing glass really wont remove anything that noticable, if u can catch a finger nail on it, it wont remove it...these cars will get chips on the w/s just due to their design, etc so i'd say just live with it till a big one happens then get a new one via insurance, etc for rock coverage etc....

I agree. I got one from a rock and one from a dirt (rock?) clod that fell off of a concrete pump truck. I am going to wait untill mine is really screwed up to replace it.
Every car I have ever owned sooner or later showed signs or rock chips, it's something that can't be eliminated, but you can reduce the occurence by not following other vehicles too closely on the freeways.

I don't know this for fact... When I asked another member about the soft nick marks on my front windshield, I was told that the Vettes with HUD had a different coating applied to the windshield that shows all those marks.

I live in pa and when i got my car it had a little chip on the window at the bottom and they called a person who came in to the dealership and fixed the chip but i was not allowed to watch her do it she filled the tiny chip with some kind of clear liquid i can see that but what kind i donot know but it looks good and thats all that counts.I was told if i have the problem ever again they will call her in for me again.
I've had LOTS of chips fixed, and the results have ALWAYS been excellent. SAFELITE auto glass has always done the repairs (they are a nationwide chain). They say that any chip or crack that can be covered by a $ bill can be fixed. The process requires some specialized equipment, and is more than just filling in the crack. They have even drilled holes in the windshield to stop a crack from spreading. I've heard horror stores about these guys that set up on street corners for quick repairs and then disappear overnight. SAFELITE guarentees all of their work.
I'd suggest looking into repairs BEFORE the chip spreads.
