Sudden battery death, but got warnings...
Yesterday my 2002 coupe put out some warning messages:
Service Active Handling
Service Traction Control
Service ABS
Oh, boy, I decided to wait until the weekend to worry too much about these.
Late this afternoon, after an uneventful drive, I tried to start the car again, and got pffft. No electronics...radio, lights, nada.
Got a jump, got a lot of clicking. I was a few miles away from home, so I called AAA; The wait for a flat-bed was over two hours.
Luckily, there was a Costco and a buddy living close by, so I got a ride and a new Optima Red Top. Dropped in the battery back at the parking lot, and it fired up.
The check engine light is on constantly now, though. I'll check the codes this weekend.
The stock AGM didn't appear to be leaking, but I'm going to check more closely later. I bought the car October 2001, and the battery died at 26,632 miles.
Just a bit of Optima Red Top trivia...I saw one installed in a Navy SEAL DPV: http://www.navyseals.com/community/n...and_desert.cfm so they must be good!

Glad everything was ok. I got a service ABS and service Active Handling DIC message tonight along with a power surge. May be battery related too.

I just ordered a Deltran Plus battery tender to keep my battery alive and well. I had lots of battery issues with my previous sports car battery (just didn't drive it in the winter--and the battery doesn't like that).

Glad you got it fixed. Funny how a battery can just die, but at least you were not out in the middle of nowhere when it happened.
