I have a 1998 LS1 and I am getting my rail covers painted by Kewl. I need to know if I change my heads out to LS6 heads, will I need different rail covers.
For the price of the painted rail covers, I don't want to mess this up.
They will fit right on. I was running a set of Z06 fuel rail covers on my car until I bought a set from Kewl and they both worked just fine.
It is my understanding that 97 and 98 have perimeter bolt heads and the 99 and up have center bolt heads. Therefore, the valve covers are different on a 97, 98 from 2000 and up.
So the real question is, will 98 fuel rail covers fit over center bolt heads and valve covers?
Kewl can order the older (98) or new style. I need to know if the 98 will work on the Z06 heads.

The rail covers don't attach to the head, they clip onto studs that protrude from the coil packs and they also clip onto the fuel rails.
If you change the heads and go to center bolt valve covers I believe you will also have to change the coil packs, if this is correct then the engine covers may not attach correctly at the bottom but they will still clip onto the fuel rails.
My engine covers have been cut and they only attach at the coil packs so don't necessarily worry that one attachment point will not hold, it's worked fine for me for over a year now

But, note that the 98's have two (2) fuel inlet connections on the drivers side. The Z06 has only one. This may be an issue!

Any help would be appreciated.
The 1999-04 heads have a center rocker cover bolt pattern.Because of this, the 99-04 coil brackets are different but the coils themselves are all the same 97-2004.The 4 studs that retain the rail cover hold the same coils to the coil bracket,so I dont see why you should have any problem.
