Default Need tire/wheel advice quick

Bob's World of Wheels has a good deal on chrome thin-spokes or z06 wheels (on another thread, check it out). So I sent Bob a letter to send me the z06 wheels.

Oops. I wanna stay with run-flats and the z06 wheels are an inch wider front and rear. Nobody makes run-flats in the sizes a z06 runs.

Will standard size run-flats work okay? Should I get the thin spokes instead? Need help fast! Bob's awaitin'!

You should be able to mount your tires on stock Z06 wheels but they will not look as good.. IMHO your stock wheels are 17x8.5 and 18x9.5 and Z06 wheels are 17x9.5 and 18x10.5. Hope it helped.

Technically you can "stretch" the stock tires to the Z06 rims but it will look crappy and might be a safety issue. Better to bite the bullet and move up to some Pilot Sports (can't get runflat in that size) and get a good tire repair kit, a compressor, and a AAA card.

I've had GYEMTs on Z06 sized wheels for months now with no problems or uneven wear whatsoever.

The Goodyear website says the tire will indeed fit that size rim.

They will fit, but you would be insane to stick with runflats. Especially with wheels like that. Put some big rubber on them and enjoy the car like it should be.

If I were you, I would ditch the runflats and go with Z06 sized rubber. If you need the runflats, I would get different rims.

Would not recommend using the C5 size tires on Z06 size wheels. Yes, lots of members run this set up, but the EMTs side walls are not very flexible. Therefore, very risky imo.

The performance gains by changing to non run flats is huge. Expect traction, handling, ride and reduced noise levels.
Thanks,

Nate

greytvert here in the forums has his stock runflats mounted on Z06 wheels. I think he has over 5,000 miles on his car with this configuration so I don't think you need to worry.

just to give you another option to go with, assuming that you are only changing wheels for looks, you can get Z06 style wheels in stock sizes (17x8.5 and 18x9.5) if you want to stick with runflats.

Unless it's a daily driver, i'd ditch the runflats
