How do I reset the OIL LIFE REMAIN % to 100%. I had it changed by a local oil shop instead of by GM, and I can't seem to figure out how to reset the OIL LIFE REMAIN message. I held the reset button down until I heard a beep and it reset the 41% to ---%. Is that it? Will it start to count down from 100% now? Or do you have to do something else? Thanks.
BTW: Because of the summer weather, my car's been running a little hotter than usual. Hit almost 230 the other day while idle. I dropped a can of Water Wetter in it, and I haven't gone over 220 yet, and my average is lowwer by about 10 degrees roughly. Good stuff.

How to Reset the "Oil Life" indicator
After an oil change, you need to reset the oil life indicator so that you know when the next change is due. Here is how to do that:
1) Turn the ignition on, but make sure the engine is off.
2) Press the "Trip" button on the DIC so that it displays "OIL LIFE" percentage.
3) Press and hold the "Reset" button for two seconds. "OIL LIFE REMAIN 100%" should appear on the display.
I drove the car for about 5 miles and it was still at ---%. I'll give it more time I guess, but least that looks like the answer. Thanks.
I'm fairly certain I have anti-freeze as my coolant (just bought it a few months ago and haven't checked that to be honest). But unless the cleaner oil had something to do with it, it is definilty running cooler in hotter temps.

Look in your owners manual and it will tell you what procedure to follow. If you reset it, it should show 100% on the DIC. It doesn't take much to drop to 99% though.
I did mine this morning after an oil change. Hitting the gas pedal 4 times with the ignition on but not started is just to cool. You don't have to mess with your DIC.
