This seems right on par. Welcome to the real world!

That car would sell for $30-32k at a dealership, so that seems like a fair buy-in value for them. Just wait when the C6's come out. You'll spontaneously combust!

FWIW...I bought my 01 QS Z06 with 13,900 miles for $ 31.5k from a dealer. Unfortunately, the price he got is about right.

Default trades are tricky

Depending on how sales tax is handled in the state you live in, while the trade may look low, the savings in sales tax on the new car may be worth thousands. In Florida if you traded a car and the dealer gave you 27 k and your new car was 35 K you would only pay sales tax on the difference versus the total amount if you had no trade. Couple that to someone who wants to get out quickly at a bad time of year or enviornment and you have right setting for low value trades.

well he got a commerative edition and didn't want to miss out since they only had 1 left. plus he got the 12,500 in rebates...so i think he took a hit. they probably held a few grand on the trade. carmax offered him $29,500, but he didn't feel like driving over to them and risk missing out on the new car. i see cars like that one at dealers for 34-36k...and my friend said at the auction they go for 32-33k in that condition. 27k is just flat out ridiculous!!! a 2002 m3 with more miles is still in the high 30k range to low 40's. our cars costed just as much new. american cars don't hold value. this really bothers me!!!
