I was just reading the post started by CAracer, and I am also having problems with my A/C - as in it doesn't work at all. No matter what temp I set it for it seems the same temp air blows out; no hint of A/C When I hit the A/C button the light will flash and then go out completely. Owners manual says this will happen when a/c operation is not allowed, but what would cause this? Its not like I've never used it before, its been in the family since it was purchased new in late 98, so I don't know what the deal is. Where to start, what the check?
I just delt with a problem like that last week, I was running my ac then it started to blow hot air and I would push the ac button and the light would blink then go out. I then started to drive and it started working.
I don't know what happened.
Unfortunetly I have tried pushing the button, with the car in park and moving, more times than I can count with different combinations of other funictions on/off and it just plan wont work....

Do a search in the forums about it. Somebody else was having A/C probs recently and it ended up being a fuse that needed to be unplugged and then reinserted (or replaced). Just a suggestion...
Anyone remember if there is a seperate connection for thr A/C funtion behind the unit. I have not removed the center console in some time so I can't remember, but come to think if it has probably been since then that my a/c has not worked (remoced it in Dec. and did not try to use it again until late May). Maybe I forgot to connect it or it came loose as I was re-installing it.....
Well for one thing it would help everyone if you described your problem more completely. Just saying that it won't come on doesn't help a whole lot.
I'll assume you have dual zone since you talking about temp settings.
What you need to tell is WHAT READING is your outside ambient air temp showing!! Dual zone will give you certain low numbers if that sensor fails. Somewhere around 35 degrees or something like that...and if the head unit thinks it's below a certain temp outside it will NOT allow the A/C to run. You also have an internal temp sensor in the dash next to the ignition switch that needs to work.
My external sensor failed a couple of years ago due to corrosion at the sensor's plug and it read in the low thirties and the A/C would not run...didn't matter that it was really in the 90's and F'n hot outside. My mechanic buddy clued me into the default temp reading for a failed sensor. We changed the sensor and everything was fine.
You should also pull up your DIC codes and see if your car is trying to tell you what's wrong.

Yes, I have dual zone. Outside ambient has hit HIGH 90's and it was pretty f'n hot outside so I'm pretty sure the external sensor is reading correctly. I have not checked the the internal sensor. Like I said in my earlier post I removed on the center console including the temp snesor when doing some work this winter. Obviously I did not need to use the A/C until this summer, so it is hard to place exactly when the A/C stopped working. It does seem to make sense that I either forgot to plug something back in, or that it came unplugged somehow during the re-instal. Besides the A/C everything else works on the climate contol so that is probably connected correctly. I will go home tonight and see if the the internal sensor is broken/not connected. Hope thats my problem......
Ok, just got home and checked for codes and its not giving me any. I took the kick panel out and checked the interior sensor and it is connected. Is there any way to tell if it has gone bad by looking at it, or is its inexpensive enough that I should just go to the dealer and buy another one to test it out?
So here I am:
1) external temp sensor works
2) no codes
3) climate control unit (dual zone) connected and everything else besides A/C is working fine
4) interior temp sensor connected and looks to be good
5)
When I told you that my ac had problems last week I did noticed that my outside sensor was reading 33 degrees with the car in park but still running and when I started to drive the outside temp went to it's correct reading and then the ac started to work again. I guess my outside sensor has problems.
