Ya know I have a 03 Z and think the new C6's are incredible looking!
I do not drive my Z06 every day anymore, but I sure seem to see them at almost every stop light these days . So in my opinion I am ready to see something new. Not sure if I can afford the C6/Z06, but I bet those things are are going to be unbeliveable!

Good move and screw the C6. I saw them being made at the Z06 FES, and I say it is evalution, and not the revalution some of the media are trying to push. A Z06 will always be a Z06, THE ULTIMATE AMERCIAN sports car. Wait for the C6 Z06 and then get some Z envy... and see how expensive it will be ect... Enjoy your Z and take me to a track

I paid $39K for an 03 with 4770 miles and over $1500 in great mods. The Z51 C6 is a 4.3 0-60 car, Any Z06 will run 4.1 and some recenct tests have shown 3.9.

The C6 is a great car but it's no Z06. I'm waiting for the C6 Z. Buying the last year of a Corvette generation is always frought with second guessing, but since the C6 is clearly not a Z06 beater I willdrive on knowing all a C6 driver will see are my big quad PRT exhaust tips. To me that's worth what I paid for the car. I'd hate to have to come up with excuses like I have a better interior or NAV system to explain why they aren't as fast.

I have no doubt the C6 version of the C6 will be killer and I will buy one, but for now I have no buyers remorse, and neither should you.

Cheers

Tom

I would rather buy the last year of a model(C5) then the first year which most likely will have bugs and recalls. Even the first year of the C6 Z(2006?), I would avoid. I will enjoy my 04 Z06 and drive it for 3 years and look at the 2nd year of the C6 Z(2007?) and decide then if it is time to make a change. Unfortunetly, most 04 Z06's are sold.

I don't like the looks of the C6 Coupe. The seats may be better in the C6 Coupe, but I don't like the dash better. Actually, it looks even cheaper than the C5's dash to me.

I think that getting a C5 Z06 for the low 40's is awesome! I wish that I paid that little for the car and I'm still very pleased with it. Sure, there are some materials quality issues, but the price to performance ratio simply can't be beat.

Tip: If you haven't done it yet, get your car out on a track at a DE event. It's a load of fun on the track and probably makes a better track car than a street car actually.

If I buy a C6 at all, it will be the C6 Z06 and it won't be the first year that it comes out either. I'm waiting until they get the bugs worked out of it first. I also won't pay over sticker for one either. So, that's a few years off. In the meantime, I will be enjoying my '03 Z.

One of the interesting conclusions of the article were you have to be a "better driver" in the Z because it is more of a "race prepped" vehicle than the C6. Don't expect the new Z to be any easier. They are race prepped cars and take skill to drive as they are meant to be. Right now, I confirm this as the Z is the most difficult car to drive to it's potential that I have been in...because I am not a racer.

I couldn't disagree more. After owning several high performance cars, I find the Z06 to be one of the easiest to drive all out, ***** to the wall. You want difficult to drive hard, try a Viper. Now there's a car that you absolutely can not make a mistake in or you will pay dearly.

If you're disappointed with the 2004 C5 Z06's interior it's obvious to me that you didn't thoroughly evaluate the car before buying it. Who's fault would that be? The Z is a great car and not just for it's performance. Perhaps investing in gold bars is the way to go. IMO, Save the Wave!

Amen to that. Quick....what's the worst year of the C5 model run? '97 had more bugs, less performance, features, etc than any of the the other six years. What's the best year for the C4? A lot of folks would agree it's the '96 where they finally got a lot of issues right. I always buy the last year and never buy the first two years of any modern production car for this reason alone, let alone the bargain prices. Oh, and the car magazines raved about the '97 too (with good reasons as it was a dramatic new platform and they didn't know about the bugs yet).

I love the performance of the Z06 and the handling. Nothing for the same money is any better. The interior in my Aurora is better than my 04' Z16 vette. I am going to change cars when I find something I like better maybe a blue and white viper.

Z06 and C6-w/z51 option are very different cars.

The winner is most likely the z06-c5, for speed and fun!

ENJOY THE RIDE.

If I am going to drive a corvette it will only be a Z06 or high performance version. The ride is great but she has some issues in terms of quality.
