Default Silver State Classic

Hey,

I was just wondering if anyone on here has ever actually participated in this? I would like to run it sometime, but am nervous without knowing anyone who has actually done it. Ive only taken the Vette up to 120 and that was just staying on the throttle for a little after hitting the traps at the drags. I would really like to push it up to 150+ and not worry about never being able to drive again on public roads Any input would be appreicated. There is another run next month, and Im kinda toying with the idea.

I've never participated in something like this, but like you, I would love to give it a try some day. I think it would be a blast.

Default Silver State Challenge

Its a while ago but there used to be a guy who entered his extremely modified camaro every year and would hit crazy speeds like 190mph I seem to remember. The car was always reliable and never broke down.
I wonder if he still runs it these days?

Done it many times. Started at 125 average(piece of cake in a Vette). Then ran 145 average for a long time. 2 years ago started running 170 and unlimited. These races are big fun. It is actually more then a race it is a chance to get away have a great time with a bunch of friends and race too. There are actually 4 different groups that do these.
www.silverstateclassic.com Nevada and Mexico races
www.openroadracing.com Nevada races
www.bbor.com Texas
www.shor.com Nebraska

Silver State is Sept 16-19
There is a race in 2 weeks in Elko,NV best quiality road of all the races. This is with MKM racing promotions. Very fun race 47 miles North stop have lunch and race back. With all the groups you have to qualify silver state you go Las Vegas on Thursday of race week end and run on the road course at the speedway. MKM Friday of race weekend they close approx 10 miles of the actual course and you have experenced driver ride with you for a couple of runs.

Both groups are great to run with. One warning Open Road racing is highly addictive and habit forming. You can't never go fast enough, I am at 197 and looking for more. Just go to the sites for more info.

Big Red (the Camaro) is on display at a casino somewhere in Henderson NV

The rules limit your top speed according to your safety equipment:

Helmet = 124 top speed

Harness Bar = 140 top speed

Harness Bar + Nomex suit = 165 top speed

I've done 19 of these open road events in both a C4 & C5.
If you intend to average over 140 invest in some cooling equipment...
Oil, Trans & Diff Coolers.

Next event is the Gamblers Run in Elko August 16-19
