Not sure if this is a common problem with C5's or not, but I have 2000 FRC MN6 and lately it has been becoming awfully difficult to shift gears. With clutch fully depressed, it feels difficult to shift into 1st gear especially, almost as if its too tight in the gearbox. I have driven many other manuals, which seem to shift fluidly into the desired gear.
I did install a B&M Ripper Shifter almost six months ago, and am not sure if this has anything to do with the "stiffness" of the gearbox. I don't believe this is any sort of clutch problem. Any ideas?
You might want to change your fluid and consider using Red Line. I have done this in several cars and it has always helped. Good Luck!
DO NOT use Redline. I put redline in mine and the shifting became almost impossible. (I understand Redline is ester based and causes rubber seals to swell). I changed to GM Synchromesh and its just like new...

To each his own! I have a 2001 and have had no problems. Do a search on tranny fluids and get really confused by conflicting thoughts and opinions. FWIW - I agree Red Line can cause some swelling, especially rear end fluids. I have never heard of it causing tranny problems but check that out, by all means.
