All you have to do is a basic search just about anywhere. People who own vettes usually have busy lives. Do some research, don't be so lazy.

Nice way to treat a newbie.

Dave, what do you plan on doing with the car? Basicly have 3 body styles with C5. Verts, coupes, and Hardtops (aka FRC 99-00, Z06 for the years 01-04)

As for options, you can get just about anything with coupes and verts. Hardtops usually have fewer options, in fact some options just are not available. Hardtops are geared more towards performance especially the Z06

Give us more specifics on what your looking for, I'm sure folks here can guide you to the right car.

Is this Dave Dave the guy that sells NX at great prices

I would just research the forums there is alot of information that I sorted through, Z06.com has some good info on Z06's..

I went with a Z06 mostly because of the little differences, I could always do a heads cam exaust for a C5 and kill a Z06 performance wise at least in a straight line. But the Z06's have alot of weight off with stuff like thin windshields, the suspension is more capible while still being easy to drive daily (easier then my prokit bilstien setup on the WS6)

But all in all even though I've only had my Z06 for 2 days its really an incredible car.

If this is "Nitro Dave" Thanks for all the good patient advice on LS1tech (I'm 93TAWicked1 with the SOM WS6 on Fikses ) maybe one of these days I'll buy a kit from yah, but right now I'm just getting over my down payment on the Z

Try going to the Chevrolet web site or the C5 Registery. Both list price, options and packages.

Log onto the GM site. You can build your own Corvette. It's a great place to start the learning process. I have had my car 2 1/2 years and can't believe how much there is to learn about this car. You talked about serious race cars!!! Your now going to find out just how serious a car the Vette is. It has more history than most race enthusiasts want to accept. But Corvette and Porshe have a relationship that goes back along way. In fact they all trade secrets. And Corvette has been at the forefront of developing and engineering racing systems. So begin the journey and welcome to the greatest forum on the net. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

It might help to know what you plan to do with it - i.e. highway cruiser, drag races, autocross, daily driver, etc. Simple changes from year to year increased LS1 hp figures from 300 to 350. Z06 engines went to 405hp in 2002. Transmissions and suspensions have been upgraded too.

Then, there's the Z06 vs LS1 corvettes. Road & Track, Motor Trend and others still have the model reviews on the web. A google search will find those.

Its easy to mod the C5 to get a specific performance from them, but they still do most everything well. If you have any specific questions, try a search - its the fastest way to get a BUNCH of information on a subject.

This website really shows that there were many changes in the 2001 model. Based on that information I made sure to buy a C5 after 2001.

For the guys that were out to help me with out giving me a hard time.Thank you very much.I have spent hours looking over this forum to see all the differences so no Im not lazy.I figured the best way to get the right info is to ask the guys that know.I run the store during the day and do not get home until late.So I only have a little time for my hobbies. For the guys that asked, yes I am Dave from LS1tech.Its good to see a few reconizable user names over here. You know how Im always helping tech questions over there.Well I was hoping I could get the same help over here.I am a gear head so yes I am looking for a sports car not a cruiser.I figured my best bet was a Zo6 or FCR.Im guessing the FCR is basically a ZO6 a little toned down. Before they came out with the Zo6 in 01.I want to pay cash for what ever I get so I obviosly do not want to purchase a new one. This car will see the track every now and then but mostly just for playing hard on the street.I will probley put normal bolt ons and nitrous on it.I think I want to try something different and buy a 6 speed since all my cars are autos.
I will check out these links this weekend.Again thank you for your help.

IMO if you want more of the true sports car with added performance - I would lean toward the Z06. Even without NO2 you'll have quite a car for street driving. That way you'll get a more performance type suspension than with the FRC. The Z06 also has goodies like a lighter windshield and other components.

Enjoy whichever one you pick though.

You may also want to check out a Corvette Black Book which can be bought at many bookstores. Has all kinds of stats in there including options.

My 99 FRC has HUD, 6 speed (standard) Z51 suspension (standard). There going for the low to mid 20's right now. Great car to mod out in my opinion.

Dave,

Welcome to the forum. I bought my NXL system from you back in Feb. You were very helpful and many thanks. FWIW, My thoughts. If you want to make a performance (handling & acceleration) statement, to all, by all means go with the Z06. (assuming you like the body style) Even non-performance oriented individuals know what a Z06 Corvette represents! I've had 12 year olds (and 50 year olds) walk by my car and ask me if it's "A Z06". (mine's a coupe, ha) In addition, if you're going to do mainly bolt on mods, ie. S/C, N2O, H/C the LS6 block is a great place to start.
If you want more of a street sleeper, then IMHO the coupe or convertible fits the bill to a "T". Even the LS1 engine is a strong base to build upon ('01's & later). All corvettes can be made to handle pretty much equally, (given enough $$) but the ZO6 again has the best all around base/starting suspension package. No matter which body style you choose, the engine compartments are all the same. (427 block, you betcha!) There are many other details that are performance related that are to numerous to mention here, but, NO PROBLEM. Just go to the "Search" function and type in your poison.
I can tell you one thing though, driving this 'SPORTS CAR' is going to bring a smile to your face that surgery won't be able to remove!! Driving this automobile is very close to a religious experience!!
WELCOME TO THE CLUB!! Always informative! Very frequently hilariously entertaining! Occasionally confrontational! But always in the end a "Band of Brothers"!

Call me biased but, I would go with an FRC. I am on my fourth vette and I wanted my C5 to be a little different. I looked for my FRC for awhile before finding it. Although they are still pretty inexpensive to buy now, I consider the FRC a good buy and I think they only made just over 4,000 in 99. I consider it a prelude to the ZO6. I have done little mods and cosmetic changes to personalize the car even more. I have just as much power than a Z and an upgraded suspension for under 5k. Good luck!
