There are several service bulletins about Dexcool and the change interval. Apparently some people have had the Dexcool breakdown and deposit crud in the cooling system, causing overheating and damage to the system components, well before the service interval.

If you read the bulletins correctly you would know those people also either mixed dexcool with another type coolant or already had contamination in their cooling system which started the crud in their dexcool. It was not because the dexcool broke down early on its own.
Just watch the overflow tank and you will be okay.
