At a recent plant tour, our guide mentioned a new tire for the next Z06, but she indicated it was not released yet. But, she was not real definite on her answer (also said - just under 500 hp, slightly different body, light (CF parts) and about $60K - nothing new, but she follows the forum and said about 50% of the info is correct!).
I would love a QUIETER run crap on my Z. Loosing a tire at high speed, would make anyone a run flat fan!
I disagree. Remember to properly use runflats, you're going to need the sensors put into the tires, and I dont know if any computer changes need to be made up, or the pickup for the sensors. Otherwise you could have a flat and not know it.
Do as you wish...I'll stick with no run flats and stickier tires.
No changes need to be made into the computer. The feature is already there, it is just not active. All you need is a Tech-II to turn them on. Plenty of folks have installed the sensors in their Z's. (It is on my list to do as well).
Some thoughts here: The new runflats are a lot lighter than the old. So far I have found them at tire rack but only in 18 and 19 inch sizes. I would like to see them in my stock Z 17 and 18 sizes because I have new wheels in those sizes. I have working tire pressure sensors now so not a big deal on the Z. See my above post on sensors...
