Got a low-profile jack from Griot's Garage Catalog. A bit pricey...but definitely high quality...& one of the few jacks that actually fits under the C5. Here's the problem...when i turn the handle to lower car back down...it releases so quick, it practically drops the car to the ground! Talk about quick release Any suggestions??? Comments??? Helpful hints??
Can you turn it slower or is there no in between?? I know with my jack if I turn the handle slowly I can lower the car gradually if not it comes flying down

No can do. As soon as you move the handle....she comes flyin' down.

Hard to believe you can't lower it slowly by barely turning the handle. Even cheap jacks I've always been able to lower it slowly. That is not a cheap jack and I'd have someone else try it. My guess is technique, not the jack's fault. Not flaming, just my .02!!
I have two Harbor Freight jacks. The older one is great and I can lower the car with precision. The newer one is essentially identical and it comes crashing down as you say. Not technique. The jacks are different. The new one is like digital jack. Open or closed. Since I have two, I only use the new one when lowering won't be an issue.
It may have something to do with air trapped in there somewhere. Did it come with a bleed procedure?

Sounds like a problem with the jack to me. Every floor jack I have owned has been able to lower the car slowly by just turning the handle a bit. Perhaps contact the vendor and ask about this.
