I had the CLB done a month ago, have barely driven the car....I went out to the car today and the plastic trim around the ignition (where it says, aux, start, etc) was severely cracked/broken, as if someone had hit it with a hammer. But no one else has been around it....
I had a good Vette mechanic at Titus-Will (Olympia, WA) install the CLB.
Was there a connection? Could reinstalling have caused enough stress to crack/shatter that plastic cover?
There are over 5000 documented cases of CLB causing problems in cars from 97-04 model cars. Export cars, and domestic cars.
If this was such a great fix, then this would not be the case.
While the column lock was never a great part of Corvette, the new recall repairs the condition.
You should see the look on an owners face when you try to tell them that the CLB caused the shorted circuit within the BCM and that they would have to pay around $300 for another one. Not pretty.
