Opening picture?
apologies if this has been covered before. I did a
search and didn't get any hits.
On the opening page for the Corvette Forum site,
www.corvetteforum.com, there is a picture in the
header with a blue convertable memorializing
the 5th generation corvette. It specifically says
C5 1997 - 2003
Uh... what happened to 2004?
I have a friend who has a '04 Z06, so I'm sure that they
made them that year. I have a '05 on order, so I know
that's called a C6 (or C5-11/16)...
What am I missing?

Yep, this has been mentioned here before. BTW skfurr, welcome to the Forum.
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
Now if they could just work out all the problems with production of my 2005, I could spend more time out driving instead of nitpicking the forums.

Thanks!!!
I had a couple of C4's back in the 80's and desperately wanted a C5 when they debuted in '97. At the time I had a hour long commute everyday in stop and go traffic, so I wanted an automatic... I just couldn't see giving up the little bit of torque that you lost vs. the 6 speed. Then the Z06 came out... drool! But I couldn't get the LS6 in a coupe, and I absolutely loved the way my C4's top came out. Once again, frustrated that I couldn't get this option with this option, etc.
I know this is the C5 forum, but the C6 is what finally made me sell the LS1 Trans Am, the 1800cc Goldwing, all of my stocks, etc to afford a new Corvette. Finally I can get a coupe and not feel like I missed out on something.
That said, my best friend has a 2002 Z06 in Electron Blue, and MAN is that a sweet ride! The stock exhaust is just SOOOO throaty! I was truly surprised at how supple the Z06 suspension was. I was expecting the 1985 Z51 type pounding ride!
Thanks for the welcome! Regardless of whether you own a C5 or a C5+11/16, we are one big happy family!
See ya on the road sometime this winter!
Stephen
