Bose Problem 1998
Sometimes when I shutoff the radio the speakers hiss. Also happens when changing radio stations. Could this be the headunit or the amps? Can I check the amps? Is there a specific way to test this?

You may want to post in the audio electronics section you may get better answers there. I haven't hear of this problem though. Good luck with it.

Well, if you do find out anything, please email me. I have the same problem, along with random static and popping in the left channel. I've bnever gotten a good answer. The closest I've come is a local guy told me to pull the small gold box by the driver's knee and have it reconditioned. I haven't tried that yet, but, if I turn the radio off BEFORE I shut off the car, and wait at least 1 min after starting before I turn the radio on, I have virtually no static or popping, and very little hiss....but if I forget, the radio let's me know of my transgression!
