sweet sound
i just installed my RandomTech cats and x-pipe and the sound coming out of the back end is now soooooo cool. The new stuff combined with the Z06 Ti cat back section make one great sounding combo! I've been driving with the radio and AC off just so I can hear the sounds coming out of the tailpipe!
At idle it's louder than normal when you listen to it from the outside but from the inside it just sounds a little different. However, when it hits about 1600 rpm it completely comes to life and howls! I showed it to a friend from work and he couldn't believe all i did was change the x-pipe and cats.
now it sounds like it should have sounded straight from the factory.

tomls1, no headers for me. i'm in Cali and I think I might get lucky and get away with the cats when it comes time for smog check but i doubt i could slip headers by them. As far as a power increase goes, i really do think there was some slight gain down low but it could just be psychological cause now it just plain sounds fast
vettesinz, they are a purely bolt up design from Random tech. The cat section is two separate pipes with a small cat near the manifold end which has standard flanges for bolting right up to the manifolds and a slightly expanded plain opposite end. the x-pipe section also has a standard flange on it on the exhaust end but just a plain straight pipe on the opposite. they fit together very nicely and supposedly work just fine without clamps or welding. my exhaust guy didn't want to chance any leaks so he went ahead and welded them together, which was just fine with me.
oh yeah! and another benefit from these was weight reduction! I'd never held regular cats before so had no idea what they weighed but when I held the stock cats after they were off i was amazed at how heavy they are! i know they are ceramic brick but just had no clue what that really felt like. the RT cats are MUCH lighter than the stock setup.
