New owner here. I'm lined up for a couple of parades and am wondering if anyone has any experience with girls sitting on the tonneau above the waterfall area? Is it strong enough or should I be worried about cracking the glass? Neither of the girls will be very heavy but I'm worried. In the past I've always had metal cars and back seats for them to sit on. Thanks
I went to an event this last spring and went through the same thing. But they wanted us to have football player's riding in the car. Needless to say they sat in the car. Nobody wanted that kind of weight on the tonneau covers. But I'll lurk around here to see what the other's have to say.

I posted this last week after watching the NFL Hall of Fame Parade on TV. Most of the Hall of Famers are big NFL dudes and the Vettes can carry their weight.
"Just finished watching on TV the annual NFL Hall of Fame Parade from Canton, Ohio and most of the Hall of Famers were driven in Corvettes."
Wasn't Jeff Gordon in a Vette, on the parade lap around the Brickyard last weekend? I believe he was standing in the center of the car/sitting on the tonneau cover/convertible boot/whatever you guys want to call it...

Yeah, but he doesn't count 'cause he only weighs 73.5 lbs. soaking wet with his helmet and gloves on.
The club I am in does a high school homecoming parade every year. We have never had a problem with any of the cars. Now granted, these teenage girls don't weigh a lot but I have had a ~200lb adult on my vert over the waterfall with no problem in 2 different parades.
We be sure to have a towel or something soft for them to sit on and ask them to take off their shoes before getting in the car.
Have fun
I've never had a problem. The one thing I do is to use painters tape to put a small towel down to prevent scratches. I also put a towel on the console so I don't have to worry about scuff marks.
I participated in a local HS football game parade last fall. It was a gas! It was my first and the other Corvette owners there really helped me out. I came totally unprepared. They had extra towels and blankets which came in handy when the cheerleader wanted to sit up top of my 03 50th coupe. :o We put a blanket in the seat and a towel up where she sit. I was never worried about her weight, for she was pretty small and only a teenager. We drove around the track and the girls waved. I played an 'Elvis' CD and she called me 'Sir'. :bb

I've done two parades with a 200+ political candidate. He sat at the center of the waterfall with no problem. If you look underneath at the center you will find that there is plenty of support. I wouldn't want that same guy sitting on either side of center though.
By the way, Jeff Gordon wasn't in a Corvette at the Brickyard. He was being interviewed during the parade lap and there was a tripod television camera, cameraman, interviewer and driver along with him in a pickup.
