How different is the sound of the touring exhaust from that of the stock C5's? I don't want an exhaust that burbles at idle like an F-body car or reminds me of its presence when I'm cruising on the highway with normal traffic. What I really want is a bit more pronounced exotic car sound when I get on it.
How much difference is there between the corsa touring and the indy?
I found a site once that had movies posted of the indy exhaust but not the touring.
I've got the Corsa Touring system, but your best bet is to find Vettes in your area with different systems on them and listen to them "live" before making your decision. Websites and descriptions of sounds simply don't give you an accurate comparison. And you could be disappointed after buying based on just that.
Corvette clubs, car shows and/or other events are a good way to find cars with the different systems, or perhaps you can find others here on CF that will let you hear their exhaust systems.
Based on what you said, you may be more interested in the Corsa Indys, but you won't know until you hear them.
Ya gotta hear them for yourself--it's the only way to know. I heard my Indys at WOT for the first time this weekend--they are sure the ones for me--WOW.
I had the touring set on mine and thought it was OK until I put an "X" pipe on which made it much quieter. Now have the dual Borla's. As suggested earlier, you need to listen to the various setups before making a decesion.
I agree with listening to your other local Corvettes to determine what you like. That said, I haven't heard an exhaust that I like better than the stock system, except the Z06 Titanium system. The stock system sounds horrible when cold idling. But once its warmed up, it sounds decent (not awesome, not horrible, just decent.) Good luck with your search, but I haven't heard one yet that makes me want to part with $1k.
PS. The Corsa's come close since they eliminate the cruise RPM resonance on the cockpit, which would be nice on longer trips.
I also have the Corsa Indy system with X pipe and love it. Brash upon startup, when the engine warms, it quiets down nicely. Very quiet cockpit at cruise (that's the X pipe's doing) but anything more than a mild acceleration brings the pipes to life. At WOT, the Corsa sounds like the C5R's! WOW WOW WOW WOW
I wanted a little more than the stock sound from a C5. Purchased an 04 MSG Convertible and added the Titanium. Exactly what I was looking for and at $400 how can you beat it.
If possible, you need to listen to the Titaniums on a stock C5. Good luck
I'll hook up with the local club and see if anyone has an aftermarket exhaust installed. Is the X pipe a generic thing or is there one manufacturer that I should be asking for specifically?
