I replaced both window regulators on my 99 about four months ago. Now the passenger side one is not working although last weekend it worked for a day or so. With all the trouble GM is having with these, it seems they would do soemthing. Anyone got any ideas on this? Anything other than the regulator that could be wrong? Seems illogical since that fixed the problem once before.
For the record, I have replaced one headlight motor, two window regulators, A/C blower motor, and windshield wiper motor. Does this seems excessive? Oh yeah two recalls on steering column and it again locked up on me a weeks or so ago.
GM - are you listening? I love this car that my wife refers to as a money pit. I am beginning to believe it.
I would say your experience is quite normal. Both my window regulators were replaced in the first year of owning it. Now the passenger regulator just quit working two days ago but, it started working again this morning. I have not had any other electrical problems with the car other than the regulators. But, if I do keep this car beyond the factory warranty period I will surely be purchasing and extended wararnty just for this reason.
Being that your car is a 99, I dont' think your repairs are excessive. The widow regulators going out is excessive but, they are a known weak link in the C5. If you keep the car, I would plan on needing to replace them every couple of years.
