I live in Seattle WA and front plates are required. I don't have one on my vert. I was stopped last Saturday nite at around 11.30pm driving in town and didn't have my headlamps on. Only side lights and foglights.
Once the officer realized I hadn't been drinking and had been driving in an acceptable manner he was fine. Sent me on my way and wished me a nice evening. Didn't even look at the front of the car. I reckon he was about 30 years old. Didn't make any reference to the car either. Must be looking for more serious stuff I guess.
I get worried each time I pass a LEO in town, but I figure I just got the car and i'll play dumb. Maybe I should just put it on to avoid any reasonable doubt. I did catch a light on Sat. morning going to work and there were two opposite me, I was worried but nothing happened.. Whew!!!!
I was at a police chief house tonight. He has a 2003 coupe. I ask him for a pass to leave the plate off in New York. He said he is leaving the plate off until he is stopped. I told he has a badge and I don't. Is there any justice in this world.
Haven't noticed any increase in enforcement in Missouri, but then again I run my front plate. Even though I would like to run without the front plate, I see no sense giving them a reason to stop me.
A few months ago, there was a bill in the Illinois State Assembly which proposed Corvettes be exempt from the 2 plate law. Personally, I don't believe the bill has a "snowballs chance in hell" to pass. Any Illinois people have any kind of a update on this thing???
I am really considering putting my front plate on. Not many people know, but driving without a front plate is a moving violation in California. Also, having your front windows tinted is a moving violation.
No, it's not a "moving violaton" in California. It's an equipment violation. It can be corrected and inspected by a police officer and if the violation is corrected, it can be signed off on the back of the citation by the officer and then returned to the court. Once signed off, the violation is dismissed by the clerk of the court.

I have been a good law abiding citizen by having my front plate on since I bought the car. But dammit... I hardly see any front plates in Houston, Katy and as of last sunday, I am also front plateless. If I get stopped I'll suffer whatever comes.
