If its not too late.....return it and get a Valentine 1. Seriously, hands down the best on the market. Not trying to spur a debate....I have one in every car...they pay for themselves in just a few days (if you drive like me)

Why, the V1 is brain dead and wont detect POP radar, at least the Escort 8500 does and its just as good in every other respect except for the bloody arrows. It about time the V1 did POP insetad of making excuses on their website.
Read for yourselves what Valentine thinks about the inaccurate and unenforceable POP detection scheme here: http://www.valentine1.com/pop/
Hardly seems like an excuse. More a kin to thorough research and development which again is what sets th V1 apart from any other detector in the industry. Not to mention, updrages to the V1 are free as well so should POP become a new industry standard (which is a remote in my opinion) then I am not worried about being taken care of. I have three (3) V1's and not one ticket...and only one upgrade has been necessary on my original V1 purchased in 1999...no joke. Here is info on the upgrade program... http://www.valentine1.com/upgrades/
This forum is only helpful by providing information...that's my intent too. I have not read any of the Escort specs for comparison so you should probably do that and also find other information on the fallacies and inaccuracies of POP...not just take Mike Valentine's word for it. However, considering V1 has out tested the Excort 8500 since 2002 (http://www.valentine1.com/demo/Demo2.asp) and POP has been around for a while now, doesn't appear to be an issue of concern for me. I would buy a V1 today over any other detector, not just the Escort...just my honest opinion. JDrew
Money was not a issue, went with the Escort 8500 X50. Two of my friends are police officers and vette owners they use the Escort so i will give it a try. Thanks for all your input.

What they dont mention is the Cops use POP mode to find the speeders without alerting them then they switch modes and you are nailed. Thats how POP mode is supposed to be used, if the COPS didnt read the manual then that is their fault but I am sure there are other that can and do read it and will happliy write you a ticket that will hold up in court.
