Default Wheel Sensor Question...

Am wondering how long the batteries last in our wheel sensors. I've had my car 6 years and 3 months and so far, so good. The car is a 1998. Are there people out there w/ 1997 Corvettes which still have the original wheel sensors still in them??? I'm just trying think ahead a little and plan when I need to replace the sensors. Am wondering if age or mileage has the "wearing out" effect to the batteries????

I have heard they last anywhere from 5-8 years. You may be on borrowed time, but until they go out, just keep on driving.

They're non-replaceable batteries good for ten years.

Thanks Jackalope. I was wondering about that, too.

There is a company that has figured out how to replace the batteries in the old-style sensors. Their service is cheaper than buying new sensors.

The owners manual says they are lithium batteries and good for 10 years...that's a typical "shelf life" for lithium batteries...let's hope that's conservative - they may go longer, but you'll know when they start fading away - the DIC will tell you.
