What exactly was he going to give you a ticket for? You weren't speeding. He might hassle you for making smoke but he would be hard pressed to find a real infraction. No laws against spinning tires if it don't make the car go fast.
Good story...not something I'd do though...BUT, What would the LEO have done? What ticket will you get for something like that? Is it a moving violation? I'd guess it would be Exhibition of Acceleration or something... Just curious as to what the penalty is for doing a smokey burnout. I see it all the time on NW Hwy in Dallas...but LEO never get's the kids for it.
Funny story. Glad to see you didn't get crucified like I did when I posted a similar story. Nice use of "smilies" too... By the way, the ticket you could have gotten is "exhibition of speed", which in my town is a mandatory court appearance. Your GF sounds like my wife when I take her on club drives.. "Why do you have to drive so fast all the time..?"

love that story hope I'm that lucky someday
actually I have heard of people getting a reckless driving ticket for doing a burnout,, if the LEO sees the Azz end of the car all over the raod while your making smoke signals

.. good for you! I like to hear it when LEOs are nice. I actually bumped into one at the gas station and he started talking to me about his 70 something vette ... wish I knew more about them so I could have made a better friend. Eitherway, next time you see him, shoot him a wave.

Personally, I wouldn't bother someone for a burnout, but here in PA you could be cited for careless or reckless driving. You may not be moving, but you certainly don't have control of your car, although we would all like to think that we do. When you're smoking your tires like that anything can go wrong in a heart beat. We've all done burn out's that's why I don't bother anyone for it. On the worse end, you could also be cited for disorderly conduct. I would never go that route, but it is an option for an LEO. Just the facts, nothing more. I've yet to take the vert out for a burn out. Did them in my 95 though.
Now that is a great story!
As they say; Location - Location - Location. No harm done. Why would he want to waste his time and yours on a guy and his GF having a little fun.
Or perhaps, he was grateful that you just stopped and turned around because chasing a car is no fun at all. The look on your face had to be priceless
