I went to the dealer intending to buy a Mag red or a torch red. Sitting in the middle of the showroom was a 2004 CE Vert. The color was stunning, but especially when contrasted with the shale interior. So I bought one in a coupe.
LeMans Blue is one of the most striking colors I have seen on the Vette. The only way to get it in 2004 is to order the CE and this makes it fairly rare.
I predict you will see it on many of the C6's next year because it will be on the option list.
Thanks for all of your responses and picks! Tough decision. We will be buying used and a vert. So...I also have to start thinking about top and interior colors. I am thinking that even though the black int. looks good...it will be too hot! So..that leaves tan and gray? How about top...black, tan, gray, white?
thanks

Again, I'm very partial. Go for red interior and white top!!!! That red/white/blue color combo on our '02 is exactly what made it impossible for us NOT to buy it!! However, there were only six (6) made in this special order combination in 2002 (and it's not for everyone!) so it's unlikely you'll find one for sale. We have a friend with an '02 EB convertible with black interior/black top...just doesn't do it! Go for oak top/oak interior. Just my opinion!
Part of your decision will be made by what year you buy. The electron blue came out in 2002 (I think) and navy blue and nassau blue were discontinued somewhere around that time. 2004 was when lemans blue started, I think.
I have navy blue because I bought used in 2000, and it was what I could afford (2002 was out of the price range I wanted to pay). As others have stated, it can vary from purple, dark blue, and bright blue depending on the lighting. I never cared for nassau blue. I like electron and lemans also, and lemans would probably be my overall first choice. However, any of these choices are rarer than red and black, so you will get noticed. Of the 7 or so friends I have who have a Vette, I'm the only 1 that isn't black or red.
I have the tan interior on a couple. I like the combo but any of the interiors would have been ok with me. It was the outside color that did it for me.
Good luck and welcome to the blue C5 club!
Lemans 1st followed by Electron, then Navy Blue, then Nassua. I love the way my EB vette looks, but like the darker/deeper color of the very similar Lemans blue. Nassua Blue never really did much for me and when its clean and polished the Navy Blue is also a favorite.
I really liked the Navy Blue, but thought it was a bit too dark, and then when the Electron Blue came out, I fell in love with it. But, when LeMans Blue was introduced on the C5, there was NO question, that was the color for me. Combined with the shale interior, I am always getting compliments on the color combination.
My Blue preference (I love them all!!) in decreasing order:
1. LeMans Blue -- of course
2. Electron Blue
3. Navy Blue
4. Nassau Blue
Pull the trigger and get that Vette, you'll be glad you did.
I haven't seen this perspective yet, so I'll share my thoughts. Blue is my favorite color. I would have a red Corvette in the driveway if it were not for the Lemans Blue and Shale combination. The interior and (convertible) top color makes the Lemans Blue as hot as it is.
Lemans Blue is brighter than Electron and Navy. Lemans Blue will look REAL dark, and REAL bright, or REAL PURPLE, depending on the lighting and the angle of the sun!! You can park it in one spot all day long, and every hour it will look slightly different. It's a fantastic color!!
For me, the Oak/Black interior/top combinations don't do the Electron/Navy Blues justice. The Shale compliments Lemans Blue in a classy sort of way. If you can afford an 04, (or an 05) go with Lemans Blue!
Nassau Blue RULES. But, then again, all blue vettes do. (and black ones, yellow, red, orange, white, etc etc). But I bought my C5 SOLEY on the fact it was Nassau Blue. It was out of production since 2000, but I was able to locate a '99. Here are some pics:
and.. of course, underhood decor is optional.. but looks good in Nassau too.
Nassau Blue has a bit of vette heritage to it as well. And, it definately gets a LOT of attention.
I originally wanted NBM when I first started getting close to being able to order... I went around and around. I ended up just having a friend drive me down the aisles of Vettes at a dealership and the one that I could not keep my eye off of was the Electron Blue. If I had had the choice between EB & LeMans, I would go LeMans... It's just a shade darker, but quite similar. Blue is the best.
Fell in love the Electron Blue the first time a saw a panel that somebody won at the NMC auction before the car was released. Saw it here on the forum first.
The LeMan's Blue is second, but its just a little to dark for my taste. I love the metal flake look of EB, especially when the sun hits it, the color has several different shades.. see photo below...wife and EB.
Whatever your choice, nothing like Zanio to bring at the bluest of blues.
