A month ago i got a zo6 '02 but last week I noticed the tires are same size as coup or convertable but it has chrome zo6 wheels.
From what i read it seems like there is no chrome stock wheels.
Does anybody know if there is a chrome option on zo6 wheels, and if so what does the smaller size tires will affect?
Someone put on aftermarket Chrome rims (like I did on my car). Lots of the forum vendors offer them. If the tires are narrower, less contact patch equals less traction.

Stock Z06 sizes are 265/40/17's and 295/35/18's.
Thanks Matt,
so there is no stock chrome option right
i have another question,
wouldnt the smaller tires affect steering and tire censors wont work?
Correct. Only the 2004 Commemorative Z06 (Z16) comes with the chrome wheels.

If the tires are a different diameter, it might theorethically affect the speed sensor/odometer. However, the C5 tires are NOT smaller in diameter, they are only narrower than the Z06 tires. This should not affect any sensors.
FWIW, the Z06 does not come with tire pressure sensors. If your Z06 has them, the previous owner obviously added them...
BTW, just a heads up: Have you verified that your car really is a true Z06. There should be an 'S' in the VIN.
The tires are 245/45/17 front 275/40/18 rear
I did verify with GM it is z06 but according to them
there is no way to tell if the car was manufactured with secors or not
so what do i do?
Did you buy the car from a dealer or private party?
The tires are too small and the rims may not be big enough on the rear (18x10.5") for stock Z06 tires!
There was a shortage of Z sized F1's early this year. The coupe sizes may have been installed because they were available and cheaper.

It was a trade in at a Mercedes dealer, my credit union bought the car from them
i did contact the dealer & my union and supposedly its going to be fixed but we'll see
If it was represented as a Z06, they have to provide the correct sized wheels and tires!
Take a tape measure and measure the front wheel inside span and go to the back between the same points and the measurement should be 1 inch more!!

Z06's did not come with tire sensors.
An owner could install the sensors in the rims and have the computer 'turned on' for the sensor reading. Whomever verfied the Z06 status of the car should have know that? Check the S in the VIN code.

Gm could not verify anything believe it or not i was transefered to a "specialist" who told me there is no way to tell by the vin what options were instaled on the car
the 8th digit an the vin is an S

Ok, if you have an 'S' it's a real Z06. Pressure sensors are NOT an option for the Z. If the pressure sensor system is enabled, the previous owner installed the sensors and had it enabled (Good for you! That's about $400 worth parts&labor)

One thing the GM people said for sure if there is pressure sensors option it wont work with different size tires

You have a Z06!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You do NOT have the correct wheel/tire combination that came with the car STOCK!!!
You need to contact the people you bought the car from to get this situation corrected!!! Either you get money back from them or they get you the correct wheels and tires on your car!!
GM can do nothing .......................
To sum it up:
Stock Z did not come with chrome wheels. If you purchase a CE Z06, they come with Polished wheels, not chrome. No Z06 comes with pressure sensors. If you have pressure sensors then they were installed and activated by the previous owner.
As far as the traction control goes related to tire size. As long as your chrome rims are the same diameter as the OE rims and the tires are the OE (or close) rolling diameter; there won't be any problems with the traction control system.
If for some odd reason they installed an odd ball size tires and rims then you could get into a problem with the traction control system.
Give us the exact tire sizes and we can figure it out. But, my guess is that the rims/tires have been on there a while and if there was going to be a problem you would have already seen it.

To see if you have working tire pressure sensors, go to the gauges button to the right side of the steering wheel. push that button a couple of times and the last item should be front L & R pressure then one more push for the rears. Good luck...
