I love mine, too. But, if anything has started to take the luster off a little is the fact that GM seems to put the engine in every other car they make. The 2005 GTO will have the LS2, as will the SSR, the Cadillac CTS-V, etc, etc. It irritates the hell out of me. The cars performance should be GM's ultimate. After all, that's what created the legend and made it endure.

I just wish GM/Chevy would catch a clue on how to do proper maintance on their cars.
YEAH!!!!! Third time was the charm. After replacing all the weather stripping, replacing 3 of the four parts of the targa latch system and then readjusting the windows and latches, it finally sounds SOLID again! Now only 2 more noises to go (parts on order and should be in Wednesday) and she shall be good as new. Dealership says they have never seen the failure that my latching system had and when it broke it caused everything else to get messed around the targa top area.

OK now I am back in the honeymoon stage of owning a Vette.

Nope! Her 5th birthday is coming up in October... even after almost 5 years together I still look back at her as I walk away.

I havent even had my Corvette for a week and I can tell you for certain im not going to get bored of this car anytime soon. I dust the car and wheels after every drive and have the hugest smerk on my face everytime im behind the wheel.
After buying this car I feel im part of this huge family. Yesterday alone I got three waves from other corvette drivers. Such a great feeling.

Default Enthralled

First became enthralled with Corvette in 1968 when I was still in my teens. Found a Stingray that I fell in love with. My insurance agent informed me that although I probably could afford the car, I definitely COULD NOT afford the insurance. I gave in and did not get the Stingray. Finally gave in just last month when my wife found our new baby, an 02 Vert, called me that she had fallen in love and would I write a check. Having been sorta looking for over a year, my wife's love of the car was met with only "how much do I write the check for?". No insurance problem now. Anyway, we now share rights to it during the week and share it together on weekends. Call me enthralled.

Has my enthusiasm diminished? , no, much to my wifes dismay! I
have always taken good care of the vehicles I've owned. But none of
them have ever captivated me to the extent my vette (this and the
previous one) has. I put headers on my first car (a Pinto, yes go ahead
and laugh, I am) and an aftermarket exhaust on a 95 Camaro. I was
getting a good start with mods on the first vette until I traded it.

Now with this vette, its nuts. My sig shows the major stuff I've done but
I've added several mods not listed and theres more on the way!! Then
I get to drive it!!!!! Then to clean and maintain it. While I
don't enjoy doing this as much as I enjoy driving it, its a close second.
Then I admire it a while, then do this forum thing, and then the whole
cycle starts over again! Its great, I love it!

Has my enthusiasm diminished? I don't think so!

I was filling mine up with gas today and as I looked at it, I thought, "Damn! That thing is beautiful! I can't believe it's mine!"

You know, I thought it would by now, but no it hasn't. I still feel about this car the way I did when I first got it. I have had it for over a year, 16 months now

Bought my first Vette, a 1957, 46 years ago. Owned a C1, two C2s, a C4 and my current C5. Thought the C5 might be the last one but I think there may just be C6 in my future. These things do keep you young.
