Default Changing wheel sizes

Currently, I have 17" rims on the front and 18" rims on the rear (99 coupe). A few vendors I have visited on line have replacement rims of 18 and 19 inches. Other than having to get new tires, does the increased size of the new rims effect anything else?

Only your wallet, it will become thinner and lighter

As long as the circumference of the new tire is close to the circumference of the stock tire there shouldn't be any problems

The question I have for you is have you heard of "plus" sizing wheels? The idea is that even though you are increasing the diameter of the wheel, you decrease the height of the sidewall by increasing the aspect ratio - retaining the overall height as stock. How's that - clear as mud?

Check out this web page from Discount Tire's website - Tires.com

This is what Zilla was referring to when he said keep the circumferance almost the same......

Remember many forum members have done what you want to do with no problems

Here is a link to a tire calculator and it recommends not to go over 3% of the diameter and if you go go over 3% it will let you know. Just enter the info and you will get your results
