Cracked Windshield: Options for Replacement
Hi-
I have a cracked windshield on my Z06, and will need to replace it. I was thinking since it is being replaced, I could get a replacement winshield with a tint built into the glass.
I would like to stay away from window film, and try to have a piece of glass that already has the tint properties into it. I am looking to get an equivelant to a 5% limo film tint darkness to it.
What are my options here?
- Are there places that will take a windshield and smoke it/ tint it without a film.?
- Have a winshield built to my darkness specs.?
- Any other ideas I am overseeing?
I know lexus has the back windows with the build in mirror tint, so that is something like I am referring to.
(Is a restriction on my license for the tint/darker windows, so no worries there).

The only glass you will be able to obtain is exactly what you have in your car now...the tint up at the top of the glass is actually in the lamination between the two layers of glass...the only way you will be able to darken it is by having it tinted by someone....
