no Nav system on a C5? Think again!!
So this is the most seamless way I could think of to get nav in my 'vette (you could also try the new magellin unit-- nice, but costs $1200.)
Anyway, it consists of my Ipaq 5555, teletype software, and a bluetooth GPS receiver--- which I put in my trucnk alongside my XM antenna. Looks cool, works, and the window-suction-cup mount from pro-fit is AWESOME. and Best of all, NO WIRES!!!!!!!
anyway, here it is:

Really nice set up. Do you just download mapping data? I have an Acura 3.2 TL with Nav. and the problem is that their mapping data doesn't include rural roads, which is where you tend to get lost. It's great in cities, but apparently they have a population criteria and only include main rural roads. Do you know if your data base is all inclusive of rural areas? What's with the dice? I haven't seen them in many years...cool

The ONLY drawback is that I have "only" a 1 gig sd card-- but, even at the highest detail, this is more than enough for the entire eastern seaboard-- was more than enough to download the entire country of spain. The roads in SPain were pretty bad in the city-- some didn't even have names-- but, no matter where I went, the software had it. I HIGHLY recommend it.
2) Dice? I've had dice in every single car I've ever owned. Almost put blue dots on my taillights too.

I use my IPAQ 5555 as well but with the Navman sleeve. Doesn't fit on the windshield as well I'd like but it serves the purpose.

I don't like the garmin . . .First, it's based on palm os, with the old ARM 200mhz processor. The ipaq 555 uses a 400 mhz xscale, and, with full details turned on, screen refresh gets a bit slow-- The garim is even worse. (I even used to use a ipaq 3600 with the 200mhz processor-- with the same software-- screen refresh was TERRIBLE with full detail).
Also, the screen is kinda small for a GPS.
Also, I'm kinda partial to pocketOS vs. palm os-- so as for a PDA, I'd hate having to use the Garmin.
For me, the IPAQ 555 was the best deal I Alreaday had the PDA, the GPS only cost $170, and the softwrae only cost $100. AND, with bluetooth, the thing is REALLY compact.
IF you're going to start from scratch, and don't really need a PDA, I totally suggest the magellan --- MY brother in law has it--its really an amazing unit. It's just a bigger than the IPAQ, but it comes with a 10gig disk-- you can store the entire country on it. And, its small enough so that you can mount it in the same way that I mounted my IPAQ, using the same bracket.
The 10 gig version runs about $1200. BUT, they do sell another one, with the SAME functionality, that takes CF cards-- the largest CF ard now is 2 gigs, which is a TON of space. This one sells for about $700 (only $200 more than the Garmin, and FAR FAR better)

BY the way-- this is the GPS receiver I use-- IMHO, one of the best-- and cheapest-- on the market-

For $210, you geta bluetooth receiver, recharchable batteries, and the battery life is awesome.

Check out the new Pioneer AVIC-N1 touch screen DVD in dash. It's just like the one I have, only this is the new model that comes with Navigation built in! AND (check this out!!) it uses the GPS to give you things like 0-60, 60-0, and other cool gauges on your screen. It's truely amazing, and unlike most other navigation DVD in-dash systems, you can listen to music or a CD after you get your driving directions programmed for your trip in - very cool for road trips!
I have last year's model and had to spend the extra grand on the navigation unit after the head unit... figures! You can pick this new model up online and from Ebay dealers for well under the $2k retail.
Just some info for you guys considering it!
Here's the website for it: http://www.avic-n1.com/
