Default EMBLEMS (Front & Rear)

Hey, members----
I am trying to replace the front & rear plastic OEM Emblems on my C5 with something with a little more quality. I have ordered Triple Chrome plated Emblems from Mid America twice (not cheap---$140 a pair), but still am not satisfied with the overall quality of these emblems. The chrome is thin (metal showing thru on some corners), and chrome plating over rough cast areas---little polishing.

I ride a customized Harley FatBoy, and have seen/used a lot of After Market Parts. I have found that Harley After Market Parts are always of impecable quality.

Has anyone on the forum changed out the front & rear emblems, and if so, what product did you use. When you pay this much money for these small parts, you would expect them to be show quality.

Thanks for your responses.

MA is not the only supplier. I know a couple of members here have been happy with their's. I think member Stuart bout some for his C5 - may want to PM him and ask. I don't know if the quality is any better but Corvette Central (http://www.corvettecentral.com/) sells chrome and gold plated emblems as well (same price for the chrome) and I'm pretty sure a couple of others do as well. Here's CC's chrome pieces.

Patches,

If GM had used those chrome emblems on my 2003 Z06 instead of painted silver, I would have left them on the car. But I couldn't take the silver coming off the painted ones so I replaced them with black 2002 emblems (same as 2004's).

The ones from Corvette Central that Patches posted about sure look good in the picture. Not sure just how good they are up close and personal.

Yeah, Its the Up Close & Personal Inspection that causes the problem with the quality of the emblems I purchased from MA.

After Market Suppliers for Harley know this, and they will not put a product on the market that wont pass a close inspection. They know that the bikes will likely be in a show somewhere, and they dont want their part looking cheap. Its too bad that the Vette After Market Suppliers havent picked up on this.

In my case, I think the front and rear Emblems from MA are already overpriced, and of poor quality. THe MA staff have been great at trying to send the best that they have-----but, the quality just is not there.

I wonder if ones from other suppliers are better? But I can see small dimples in the chrome in one of the previous posts.

Might just live with the OEMs until someone makes a show quality part.

And I really dont care about the price, if the quality is there.

I posted those as an alternate but hopefully, someone who's bought top-quality pieces will chime in here.

Best of luck, Jesse.

jleast98,

I tried to do a search for you but I was unable to find the person who had thier emblems removed altogether and had the emblem painted in it's place. It was a extremely quality paint job. It had the same appearance of the stick on emblem but it was painted into the hood and the rear.(Same dimensions) it had a 3D effect like it was a stock emblem.

You might want to look into doing something like that. Plus if your looking for car show quality then you'll have a cleaner look. Cause we all know how tough it is to clean in between the crevasse's of those emblems.

Just so you know, I've never been truly happy with anything I ordered from MidAmerica.

They tend to charge quality pricing, but then ship complete JUNK.
$40 leather bag, JUNK, torn after 1 week use
$120 Floor mats, JUNK, returned immediately
$20 Fender covers, JUNK, would've scratched fenders, not protected them, returned immediately.

I only had to order once for my C5 from them, that was enough to keep me away forever. Not only did they screw up my order at first and sent me someone else's stuff, they made me pay the return shipping to get it back to them!!! They put stuff on backorder without notifying me.

Like I said, I only ordered from them once, and it was a nightmare...took 3 months to resolve completely. Only thing I kept was a duffle bag (which was barely big enough to hold a shoe box), which tore in a week.
